Description
High-Performance Acid & Chemical-Resistant Mastic
HF Mastic is a specialized acid-resistant and chemical-resistant mastic designed for protective lining and jointing applications in industrial tanks, chemical plants, drains, and foundations. It provides exceptional resistance to hydrofluoric acid, corrosive chemicals, and mildly oxidizing acids, making it ideal for environments where standard bitumen or resin mastics may fail.
This trowelable and heat-meltable mastic is applied over primed concrete or brick surfaces to form a dense, impermeable, and durable chemical-resistant lining. HF Mastic offers excellent adhesion to primed surfaces, long-lasting protection against chemical attack, and ensures leak-proof joints and coatings in aggressive industrial conditions.
Key Features
Resistant to hydrofluoric acid, non-oxidizing acids, and chemicals
Provides a durable, impervious protective coating
Strong adhesion to concrete, brick, and metallic surfaces
Heat-meltable and trowelable for easy application
Applications
Chemical plants
hydrofluoric acid storage tanks
industrial floors
pipelines
corrosive environments
pits
Chemical & Temperature Resistance
- Excellent resistance to hydrofluoric acid (HF)
- Resistant to strong inorganic acids and mixed acid solutions
- Good resistance to chloride and saline environments
- Limited resistance to strong alkalies and oxidizing agents
- Maximum service temperature: 120–140 °C (depending on acid concentration)
Surface Preparation
- Substrate must be structurally sound, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, laitance, and loose contaminants
- Concrete surfaces should be mechanically roughened to enhance bonding
- Apply a compatible HF-resistant primer or monolithic membrane prior to mastic application
- Ensure slopes, levels, and alignment are completed before lining; post-application adjustments are not possible
Preparation & Mixing
HF Mastic is supplied in ready-to-use or two-component form (as specified).
01
If two-component, mix base and hardener thoroughly as per recommended ratio
02
Apply using trowel or spatula to achieve uniform thickness
03
Press bricks/tiles firmly to ensure full bedding and void-free joints
04
Avoid over-working once application has started
Setting & Curing
- Curing occurs through chemical reaction or controlled hardening
- Working time at 30 °C: 15–25 minutes
- Initial set: 8–12 hours
- Full chemical resistance: 7 days
- Keep the lining dry and protected during curing
